Grammie and Grampie Came to Visit

Grammie and Grampie came to visit us last weekend, and it's always so nice to host them. We spent most of the day on the sunporch off the kitchen. Edie really likes wearing hats, and grabbed Dave's hat from one of the hooks on the porch.

Bunny Grahams in tow, of course

I love this little picture of her

Grammie snuck into the candy basket in the pantry, and couldn't resist giving in to Edie and letting her indulge a little, too. She really likes the chocolate part of Cherry Cordials, but not so much the "cherry" or "cordial" parts.

Look at those curls!

After smearing chocolate all over herself and most of the house, a bath was in order.

We had a tasty meal (including this delicious morsel), Edie and Grampie rode around on the lawn tractor for a while, and Grammie and Edie checked in on the cows. Eric spent most of their visit sleeping in the swing. We can't wait for Grammie and Grampie to come see us again!

Mother's Day, 2010

This Mother's Day was an especially special one, as we had little Eric with us to celebrate. The day started by meeting up with Mom and Dad in one of our favorite places, Cooperstown, NY. Our usual haunt was packed, but that was to be expected on what is probably one of the busiest restaurant days of the year. So, we ventured to another eatery across the street for a nice hearty breakfast. Edie used this time as a great way to butter-up not only her pancakes, but her grandparents as well.
I can never seem to get a picture of everyone with their eyes open, or at least looking decent!

Mom and Dad gave me some beautiful presents, including a new calligraphy set, and of course had goodies for the kids. After Edie hammed-it-up for other restaurant patrons, she went for a stroll around the block with Grammie and Grampie.

It was only after we got home that we learned Grammie and Grampie let her stomp in mud puddles.

At home, we used the rainy Sunday as an opportunity to bum around the house (like we need an excuse!), and maybe play a few games.

Edie with Dudley, who was my bear when I was little

Edie was thinking about terrorizing Eric, but then thought otherwise (for the moment)

Just a random photo of Edie's rocking chair. It was given to us by Dave's parents, Richard and Christine

No, she's not hugging him, she's tackling him

Trying to sleep through the whole thing - if only he did this at night, too!

Ole! (Clap, Clap)

We used this little seat for Edie, too, and she doesn't want anyone to forget it was hers first

This kid is the loungey-ist kid we know!
We hope you had a great Mother's Day, too! And to all the moms out there - keep up the good work!

Grammie and Grampie Came to Visit

Back in April, Mom and Dad came out to spend the day with us. Well, make that came to spend the day with Edie. Since Eric isn't really "fun enough" yet (their words, not mine! I have plenty of fun with that little bugger), and Dave and I must be too boring or something, they really come out just to see Edie. Here are some pictures from that visit.

Grammie bought Edie some new Sesame Street-themed cars, and Edie though the best place to take them for a test drive would be Grampie's face

Looks like an Edie-Baron team-up

No, Dad doesn't always wear grubby clothes. He was getting ready to head outside with Dave and help take apart one of our barns that fell duing the big winter storm we had this year

Easter 2010

We actually celebrated Easter the weekend before actual Easter this year, considering Mom and Dad were already going to be at the house. This was the weekend before Eric was born. We decided Edie was big enough this year to try dying Easter eggs. Not sure how much she enjoyed it, but at least we gave it a try.

Edie's wearing the cutest apron she received for her birthday from my very good friend from college, Jenn - thanks Benny!
That's my dad, Grampie, holding Edie

I think this might have been the point when Edie stuck one of the color tablets in her mouth - she had an orange mouth for a day or two.

My mom, Grammie, stirring up the cups of color. I think dying eggs was really more for her and I.

Edie really, really loves brushing her teeth. Not a bad thing, I suppose.

Again, with the teeth. And a better shot of her apron.

Grammie showing Edie how to dye the eggs. Check out that purple unionsuit! It's from Aunt Angela and has her name on the butt-flap!

Usually, I'm the one taking the photos, but sometimes the lens is turned on me! As you can tell from this photo, I was about ready to pop anyway, so it's no surprise Eric came early. BTW - I think we've finally gotten Edie off the bottle. Now she's a full-time sippy-cup gal.

Come on, Grampie! No bunny ears!

Let's Backtrack a Little, Shall We?

Now that we're finally in more of a routine around here (haha - yeah right), I'm hoping I can post pictures soon after I take them. But for now, let's play a little catch-up.

The day after we brought Eric home from the hospital, my Aunt Terri and grandma (GG) came out to pay the little bugger a visit. It was really sweet of them, considering it was a bit of a drive (about 2 hours) and my cousin, Lynnette, had a baby girl (Kaylee) just a few days before we had Eric. Here's a picture of Aunt Terri holding Eric. Look how jaundiced he was, poor baby!

Mom and Edie also came out earlier that same day (I have more pictures of the two of them somewhere - I'll post them as soon as I find them). It was so nice to have mom around to help take care of things while Dave and I adjusted to having two kids. Especially because Edie and Eric are so close together. Sometimes it's like having twins.

Edie immediately took to her little brother. I think she's really enjoyed playing the "big sister" role. Sometimes she steals his bottle away, sticks it in her mouth, and realizes, "Whoops, that's not mine!"

For the most part, she's been really good to him. Sometimes she tries to tickle his feet or give him a slap, but 95% percent of the time, she's incredibly sweet towards Eric.
